Deputies: Deadly shooting on I-4 may be result of road rage
Deputies say man was traveling eastbound, towards Orlando
An Orlando man was shot and killed as he was driving eastbound on Interstate 4, and deputies believe he may be the victim of road rage.
The eastbound lanes of I-4 near I-75 were closed Saturday night as deputies investigated the death.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies said the victim, Fred William Turner, 47, of Orlando, called 911 around 3 p.m. Saturday and told the dispatcher that someone was following him as he was heading towards Orlando on I-4.
Turner said the car then pulled up beside him, and someone inside pulled out what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon.
The dispatcher then heard multiple gunshots, according to deputies. Turner died on the scene.
Deputies believe the suspect is driving a newer model gray Taurus with tinted windows.
Deputies are still investigating what caused the shooting.
