PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. -

Broward County authorities say the 17-year-old girl who was grazed by a bullet in the neck while waiting for a school bus has been treated and released from the hospital.

A sheriff's office statement says a group of teens had gathered at the school bus stop in Pembroke Park after 6:30 a.m. Friday when they heard gunfire.

Makeda Elliott was grazed by a bullet. She called her father who rushed to the stop and took her to the hospital.

The streets near Watkins Elementary were shut down. The school was not yet in session and never put on lockdown.

No one else was injured.
