Deputies make synthetic marijuana bust in Marion County

Man charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute

An argument leads officials to the discovery of synthetic marijuana in Marion County.

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County deputies arrested a man in a parking lot after they say a traffic stop led them to find 382 grams of synthetic marijuana.

William Russell Griffin, 38, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia in the Wednesday incident.

Deputies said they were doing a security check at the Pilot station on NW Highway 326 when they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A search revealed 382 grams of synthetic marijuana packaged for distribution,  bundles of plastic baggies, 3 scales and a marijuana pipe.

Griffin was taken to the Marion County Jail.
