Deputies said Jonathan Charapata was taken into custody at a relative's home in Deltona on Saturday after an arrest warrant was issued.

Deputies said the child abuse charges stem from signs of abuse they found on 2-year-old Justin Polk's brother and sister.

Merissa Anderson, 23, was arrested and charged with three counts of failure to report child abuse and two counts of neglect of a child. However, no one has been charged in the death of her baby.

Anderson went before a judge Saturday afternoon and her bond was upped to $80,000.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, 2-year-old Justin Polk was at the Countryside Inn with Anderson, her boyfriend and two other children when one of the adults called 911 around 9 a.m. Monday to say that Justin was unresponsive.

The incident sparked an investigation into her other two children. According to Anderson's affidavit, some of the children were found with fractured ribs, multiple bruises on the face and body and bite marks.

Charapata made a court appearance on Sunday, and his bond was set at $100,000.
