When deputies went to put Quillen in the back of a patrol car, and while handcuffed behind his back, he ran away, authorities said.

Quillen went around a corner of a nearby building but lost his balance and fell face-first, breaking his nose and causing multiple lacerations to his face, an arrest report stated.

Quillen was taken to the Bert Fish Medical Center for treatment but was later released and booked into the Volusia County Jail.

He faces additional charges of escape and obstructing an officer without violence.
