Man facing long list of charges, deputies say

PIERSON, Fla. – A 27-year-old man was facing charges Sunday after he was accused of stuffing pharmacy employees in the trunks of their vehicles last month while he stole thousands of dollars worth of pills from the store, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said Kendall Rockmore, of DeLand, stole $65,000 in pills from the Pierson Community Pharmacy on East First Avenue the evening of Nov. 17 after he locked three employees, including a pregnant woman, in car trunks.

The woman, who was eight months pregnant, told authorities that she told Rockmore it was difficult for her to get in the trunk, but he told her he would kill her and her unborn child if she didn't listen, deputies said.

No one was injured during the incident, authorities said.

After working with employees, investigators found that a prescription for a new patient named "Kendall Rockmore" had been filled Nov. 2, authorities said.

Video captured that day showed Rockmore at the pharmacy wearing some of the same clothes he was seen wearing in video captured the day of the robbery, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Rockmore, who had just been released from prison in September after serving nine years for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, was arrested Wednesday on unrelated charges of driving without a license and violating probation. deputies said.

Deputies said Rockmore was charged Sunday with one count of robbery with a firearm, four counts of kidnapping, grand theft, trafficking Oxycodone, trafficking Hydromorphone and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Rockmore is being held in the Volusia County Jail without bond, authorities said.
