Orange County employee sends death threat to Florida attorney general, deputies say

Kevin Cunningham faces multiple charges

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orange County employee was arrested on suspicion of threatening Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi on Thursday.

Kevin Cunningham, 51, sent an email with subject "Pam Bondi" on Thursday to the "Internet Complaint" section of the attorney general’s website.

"Cunningham has been an employee of Orange County since March 17, 2014, and serves as the Fiscal and Operational Support Division and is a Development Services Specialist," the public information officer for Orange County said in a statement.

He will remain on unpaid leave.

According to the arrest affidavit, Cunningham posted the message from his work computer issued by Orange County.

"You need to resign. You have committed fraud accepting bribes from Donald Trump. Your support of him makes you unfit to hold the position of attorney general. Do not ever come back to Orlando. Anderson Cooper was right-your hate and bigotry enable the 49 people to be slaughtered here," the email said.

"If I ever see you in person, I'll rid the state of a corrupt [expletive] with any means, I have firearms, knives or my bare hands," the email continued.

Deputies said Cunningham was upset with the attorney general’s positions toward the LGBT community and other political figures' comments toward the LGBT community after the Pulse nightclub shooting.

Cunningham told deputies that he did own a firearm, described as a "long gun" or "shotgun."

After Cunningham was arrested deputies found Xanax in his right front pocket in an Advil bottle. The Xanax was not in a properly marked prescription bottle, the report said.

Cunningham was charged with written to kill or do bodily harm, corruption by harm or threat of harm against a public servant, and possession of Alprazolam.

He posted $7,000 bail on Friday.
