An Orange County man says he was forced to shoot his neighbor in the stomach after being threatened with a screwdriver.
Deputies have not released the names of anyone involved, but said the gunshot victim was in critical condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
The shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. Friday at the Conway Circle mobile home park near Conway Road and Hoffner Avenue.
The gunman told investigators he was working on a home when another resident tried to cut through the property and an argument broke out.
The gunman told deputies that's when the other resident pulled out a screwdriver and threatened him, so he opened fire.
"I was laying on my couch and I thought what I heard (were) firecrackers," said Melissa Strahla, who lives nearby.
Another neighbor, Maria Cruz, drove the man to the hospital.
"He told me he needed help and he can't talk because he had a lot of pain," said Cruz.
The gunman and his wife said they felt so threatened, that after he opened fire on his neighbor they got in their car and called 911. A dispatcher told them to pull into a nearby 7-Eleven where they met with detectives.
Investigators tell Local 6, so far, it appears to be a case of stand your ground and after interviewing the gunman, he and his wife were allowed to return home.
