Car burglary suspect jumped into Lake Sherwood near Ocoee, deputies say

OCOEE, Fla. – The body of a suspected car burglar was found Saturday as the Orange County Sheriff's Office searched a lake.

The search took place in Lake Sherwood along Good Homes Road between state roads 50 and 408 near Ocoee.

Deputies said they were called at 1:50 a.m. for a possible burglary to a vehicle at the Hawthorne Groves apartments.

Deputies said they spotted two people running from the area. Two teens, ages 17 and 18, were later taken into custody, deputies said.

A third culprit hid in a storage shed at a nearby Lowe's before jumping a fence and heading into a wooded area. The individual was last seen swimming while in distress, deputies said.

The Sheriff's Office said a marine unit found the body of the 18-year-old man around 3 p.m. Saturday in Lake Sherwood. Homicide detectives said that no foul play was suspected.

The search took about 14 hours, the Sheriff's Office said.
