ORLANDO, Fla. – Orange County deputies are searching for a distraught teenager, whose mother was killed by her ex-boyfriend, after deputies say he disappeared from the Central Florida Behavioral Center on Monday.
Deputies said 14-year-old Ricardo Chang was last spotted at the center on Central Florida Parkway at 7:30 p.m. wearing a blue shirt with dark color jeans.
Chang's mother, 43-year-old Jorgete Acarie, was found shot to death in her Orange County home in August. Deputies arrested her ex-boyfriend Kristofer Gould and charged him with first-degree murder with a firearm.
Deputies said, family members are very concerned about his well-being because the he has been dealing with some emotional problems after his mother's death.
The family's attorney, Eben Self, said Chang left the facility with no money and only the clothes on his back. Self said Chang was sent to the behavioral center after he got into a fight at school on Friday.
"He had gotten into a fight at school and sent to the Juvenile Detention Facility. He expressed some irrational and confused thoughts," said Self. "I can't imagine the feelings that he's going through... I saw him the day after his mother was killed. I saw the emotions that were running through him. It's a lot to handle for anyone."
Chang is described as brown hair and brown eyes, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 120 pounds.
