According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, detectives learned through an investigation that Hamilton frequently locked the boy inside the cabinet and secured the doors with screws to prevent the child from getting out.

Witnesses described the home as "dirty" and infested by roaches, according to deputies.

Detectives said the boy was placed in the cabinet for hours at a time and often cried to be let out.  The child was often forced to urinate or defecate on himself while locked in the cabinet, detectives said.

Hamilton was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail on no bond.
