Deputies: Woman shot, killed at boyfriend's Orange County home

Deputies say accident caused woman's death

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was shot to death in the front yard of a home early Saturday morning, and according to Orange County Sheriff's deputies, the shooting was accidental.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of Villa Drive near Forest City Road, according to sheriff's office spokesperson Ginette Rodriguez.

Jorge Cruz said he heard a loud boom, opened his door and saw a man covered in blood and a shotgun lying on the ground.

Cruz said the man was holding a lifeless woman in his arms, and he was screaming,

"Why God take you from me, stuff like that," he said.

Deputies said the later identified as 33-year-old Tanya Alvarado, died at the scene and her Jorge Hernandez was taken in for questioning but was released.

Deputies said no charges were filed against her boyfriend, Jorge Hernandez.
