Authorities in Central Florida are warning residents about a nuisance alligator after a dog's head was found in lake, and a second dog was attacked in the same area.
Sebastian police announced the warning Monday, three days after the head was found at Lake Hardee Park.
The lake is part of a wide canal system that extends southeast into residential areas and empties at the other end into St. Sebastian River.
Police are telling residents to keep their pets under control until state wildlife officials can find the alligator.
Witnesses have described the suspected nuisance alligator as being very large.
