Disney cruise employee accused of stealing passenger's iPhone

Woman posts pictures to Facebook

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Disney cast member is on administrative leave after being accused of stealing a woman's iPhone while on a cruise.

Katy McCaffrey says her iPhone was stolen last month while she was on board the Disney Wonder cruise, which is based out of California. McCaffrey tracked down her iPhone after the cast member allegedly started using the device to take pictures of himself.

McCaffrey's iPhone was linked to her iCloud account and Photo Stream. Therefore, pictures taken on her iPhone are automatically pushed to her other devices.  She then posted those pictures on Facebook.

McCaffrey's "Stolen iPhone Adventures" album on Facebook is full of pictures streaming in from her missing iPhone. The album begins with a picture of a man who appears to be wearing a Disney cast member nametag.

"This is Nelson. Nelson has my stolen iPhone," writes McCaffrey. "Nelson likes to take photos of buildings in Mexico with stolen phones."

In a separate post, McCaffrey writes, "I can't see any reason why people shouldn't share this. Feel free."

The pictures continue with shots of people who McCaffrey identifies as Nelson's friends and crewmates on board the Disney Wonder.

"And here's a beautiful sunset Nelson had time to capture, all on my stolen iPhone," says McCaffrey.

In another post, McCaffrey says, "I have alerted officials of the Disney Cruise Line and forwarded them the photos. Hopefully I'll get my phone back and maybe some free passes to Disneyland."

In a statement to Local 6, Disney Cruise Line's public affairs manager Rebecca Peddie said: "We take matters of this nature very seriously. We have placed the employee on administrative leave and restricted him from guest areas while we investigate. We've been in touch with the guest and are working to make it right with her."

As of Wednesday night, McCaffrey's album has been shared nearly 9,000 times.
