Man shoots wife with children in home in Deltona, deputies say

Wife was trying to separate from husband, deputies say

DELTONA, Fla. – A domestic quarrel between a husband and a wife ended in gunfire that left the woman wounded Sunday.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said it was alerted to a couple fighting at their home at 1958 Alameda Drive at about 12:30 p.m.

Deputies said the woman, Victoria Rosado, 26, had been trying to separate from her husband, Emmanuel Rosado (pictured above), 26, but he showed up at the home and started acting irrationally, locking her in the house and refusing to let her leave.

There were also three children between the ages of 23 months and 7 years old in the home at the time, officers said.

Deputies said Victoria Rosado asked her husband to leave the home, but he broke into the bedroom where she had locked herself.

The incident report said several minutes into her call to 911, a scream was heard and then the line went dead.
At that time, deputies arrived and heard two shots fired through a door and window of the home and in the direction of the deputies.

Deputies reported hearing Emmanuel Rosado shouting, "You're going to die tonight!"

A couple of minutes later, two more shots were fired in the direction of the officers. They returned fired, but Emmanuel Rosado was not hit, deputies said.

After the woman and children managed to get out of the home, Emmanuel Rosado exited the back of the residence as ordered by deputies and was taken into custody.

Victoria Rosado received a gunshot wound in the back of the leg. She was airlifted to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.

Emmanuel Rosado is charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the shooting of his wife and the shots fired at deputies. He is being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach without bail.

It is not known at this time who is caring for the children.

Officials said deputies had responded to reports of disturbances at the home several times before, once on Sept. 1, 2014, and April 7, 2016. No one was charged either time. However, on Jan. 4, 2015, Emmanuel Rosado was arrested at a different residence on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery. The victim at that time was listed as Victoria Palinkas, who has the same birthday as Victoria Rosado.

The investigation is ongoing.

Rosado is being held without bond.
