Downed power line blocks road, sparks fire in Orange County

It's not known what toppled power line

ORLANDO, Fla. – A dangerous situation was caught on camera in Orange County after a live power line crashed into the ground.

The electrified line started a fire Sunday in the grass along Orange Blossom Trail just north of Lee Road.

A brief rain helped put out the fire, but firefighters say it could have been worse.

"In this case, the line was lying all the way across OBT and had burned itself out. So we actually had cars that were perilously close to that energized field. Fortunately, no one stopped, got out and got electrocuted," said Battalion Chief Mark Smothers.

It's not known what toppled the line.
