Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts to add 3rd building

Orlando arts center also to add acoustical theater

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts unveiled its 2015-16 season on Wednesday and made a major announcement on Phase 2 of the project

The season will include a new jazz concert series, including Arturo Sandoval, Michael Feinstein, Patti LaBelle and Tony Bennett.

The new arts center also said a third building, with the acoustical theatre, will be named Steinmetz Hall and will have groundbreaking in May 2016. Officials say 95 percent of funding is in place.

The Hall would open in 2019. The projected cost of Phase 2 is $185 million and approximately $45 million is left to raise toward the completion of the project.
