ORLANDO, Fla. – A 37-year-old driver suspected of robbing an Orange County store was arrested early Friday after a pursuit and hours-long standoff with deputies.
Leslie Gopher was arrested in the incident, which started around 10:20 p.m. Thursday at the Circle K at at 4600 N. Alafaya Trail.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said a gunman, later identified as Gopher, robbed five people inside the Circle K and stole a surveillance camera computer from the store before driving off in a black SUV.
Deputies spotted the vehicle a short time later on University Boulevard and tried to stop Gopher near University and Dean Road, but he took off, authorities said.
Deputies performed a PIT maneuver near the intersection of University and Quenita, bringing the SUV to a stop, the Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies said Gopher refused to leave his car, and a standoff ensued for two hours before he surrendered.
No one was injured.
Two weapons were found in Gopher's vehicle, according to deputies.
Gopher was arrested on charges of armed robbery and fleeing a law enforcement officer.
Gopher was convicted of armed robbery in 2006 and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was released from prison in November.
A portion of University Boulevard was shut down during the incident.
