Driver crashes into tree after being shot, Florida Highway Patrol says

Orange County deputies to investigate Orlando crash

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 37-year-old driver crashed his Lexus into a tree after he was shot Monday morning in Orlando, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Law enforcement officials pulled the man from the car after the crash, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. at Orange Blossom Trail and Landstreet Road.

Details of the shooting were not immediately known, but the driver, who was shot in the neck, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Orange County sheriff's deputies said.  As of Tuesday, he was in stable but serious condition.

It's not known if the bullet came from outside the vehicle or if anyone else was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.  Deputies said the wound was not self-inflicted, and it's also possible that the man had been shot before getting in the car.

Video from the scene shows the front end of the car crashed into a large palm tree.  The roof of the vehicle was cut off.

Witnesses called 911 after seeing the Lexus driving erratically down Landstreet Road, deputies said.
