Driver flees after toppling power pole in Orlando crash

Passerby says driver got into other vehicle, left scene

ORLANDO, Fla. – A car toppled a power pole in Orlando early Tuesday and troopers are searching for the driver who got into another vehicle and fled the scene.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. on Turkey Lake Road near Sand Lake Road in Orange County.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a dark-colored sedan was heading southbound when it crashed into the pole, snapping it and dropping live wires to the ground.

A passerby stopped to help, but he told troopers that the driver climbed out of the crashed vehicle, got into another car and left the scene.  It's not known who was driving the second vehicle.

Crews were working to replace the power pole.
