Duo caused thousands in damage after getting stuck in mud, Flagler cops say

Deputies: Men used well station to try to get car out of mud

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A 3 a.m. Sunday drive down a remote road landed two men behind bars after Flagler County deputies said they used Ormond Beach city property to get their stuck car out of the road.

The incident was reported near the Huntington Village subdivision. Deputies said 25-year-old Richard Clark and 20-year-old Andrew McEwe removed a well station door to get their car unstuck but failed.

That's when deputies said the men walked a mile to State Road 40 for help, but couldn't find anyone and walked back.

It wasn't until around 9 a.m. on Monday that a maintenance worker found the car, the damaged well station and called authorities. Deputies said an electrical box inside the station was also damaged but the men denied using it.

Deputies said they caused more than $2,000 in damages.

Both men are charged with felony criminal mischief.
