Eatonville motel reopens after being condemned

EATONVILLE, Fla. – The Eatonville Hometown Suites passed its most recent inspection, but only six of the 30 rooms in the motel are open, the mayor said on Tuesday.

The rest of the rooms are uninhabitable, according to the mayor, because they don't have air conditioning and are considered by the town to be a health hazard. Before the rest of the rooms are filled, the town says each room will have to pass another inspection.

The motel was originally shut down months ago after residents were in danger of the roof collapsing.

The code enforcement department decided Monday night the owner made the appropriate fixes to the building's roof and electrical system.
