Employees forced into freezer during Leesburg Burger King armed robbery, police say

Police see similarities between this robbery, one at Mount Dora McDonald's

LEESBURG, Fla. – A second fast-food chain restaurant in Lake County was held up by armed robbers in the past week with the employees being forced into a freezer.

The two robbers ordered the employees into a freezer at a Leesburg Burger King on Wednesday evening, Leesburg police said.

The workers told police the two black men entered the store after 10 p.m., taking money and personal items before leaving the restaurant. One employee was struck with a handgun, but had no serious injuries, police said.

One of the robbers is described as between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing an Old Navy shirt and blue jeans.

The second man is described as between 6 feet 1 inch and 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 215-230 pounds. He was wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans.

Police said both men had their heads covered.

The Leesburg Police Department is also working with the Mount Dora Police Department after they noticed similarities between this robbery and one that occurred May 18 at a Mount Dora McDonald's.
