DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - New evidence was released on Wednesday in the case of Luis Toledo, who is accused of killing his wife and her two children.
The State Attorney's Office released the information, including investigative reports, cellphone records and interviews on Wednesday afternoon.
Toledo has been jailed since October after deputies say he killed his 28-year-old wife, Yessenia Suarez, and her two children -- a 9-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy. Their bodies have not been located.
An interview with bus driver Tina Williams said she spotted a man in the parking lot at Publix in Lake Mary seriously cleaning a car the same morning deputies believe Toledo killed his wife and her children.
"He kind of scared me because ... like, why is he doing that? Why is he cleaning the window? But I thought maybe he works at Publix," Williams said in the interview, obtained by Local 6. "He was cleaning the front windshield real fast, he was just cleaning real fast, then he got out and he went to the front of the car and he started cleaning."
Toledo's neighbor told police he actually drove Toledo to that Publix early that morning to drop Suarez's car off and that the neighbor thought it was very strange.
Later on in the day, when Suarez's parents reported her missing, deputies went to the couple's house in Deltona, where a deputy "detected a strong odor consistent with Pine Sol cleaner. He reported it appeared to be strongest in the foyer and living room area of the residence," according to the report.
The deputy also said when he went to the master bedroom, he spotted "a small vertical mark, which appeared to be consistent with the color of blood."
Deputies have said that Toledo admitted to killing his wife, but that interview is not included in the released evidence because it is considered a public record and is exempt from record laws. Toledo, however, denied killing Suarez's two children, deputies said.
Toledo faces murder charges in all three deaths.
