SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A drug dispute that led to a man getting fatally shot could fall under Florida's "stand your ground" law, according to officials from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in a home in the 7000 block of County Road 647 in Sumter County. Authorities went to the scene on reports of a home invasion.

Deputies said when they arrived, they found 37-year-old Joshua Myers, who had been shot multiple times. He was transported to Bayonet Point Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Officials said the residents of the home said Myers forced his way inside after a dispute over drugs earlier in the day. Deputies said one of the residents shot Myers after he came in.
Investigators said the shooting could fall under the "stand your ground" law, which allows anyone in perceived danger to defend themselves, including with the use of lethal force. They will be working with the State Attorney's Office to determine how the incident will be classified.
