Pedestrian struck by train, killed in Holly Hill

Police continue to investigate fatal crash

HOLLY HILL, Fla. – A man was struck by a train and killed early Wednesday in Holly Hill, officials said.

The fatal crash happened around 4 a.m. on 8th Street near LPGA Boulevard.

"It’s unclear at this time if the male walked or fell into the side of the moving train," Holly Hill police said. "However, it was clear that the male walked passed the crossing arms."

 According to officials, the train was traveling northbound at about 48 mph at the time of the crash.

"There is no foul play suggested at this time," police said. "This investigation has not determined the actual manner of death -- accident or suicide."

The man's name has not been released.
