ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol released video on Thursday of a mother who admitted to trying to run over her children's father earlier this week, which apparently stemmed from an argument over money.
The father kept telling 20-year-old Angelique Capers he wasn't giving her any money and that response wasn't good enough for her, according to troopers.
"He said no, so he was walking and I tried to hit him," said Capers.
Troopers said Capers went to the man's home on Downey Cove Drive in East Orange County Tuesday morning looking for a fight. Capers first confronted a woman at the home and was told to leave. That's when troopers said she got into her SUV, spotted her children's father and Capers admitted she intentionally tried to hit him.
Capers said in the video, "I tried to hit him."
Trooper: "So you ran off the roadway to try and hit him and then you hit the fence?"
Capers:"I didn't hit nothing. I didn't even hit him. I tried to hit him and then he ran, so I reversed my car back and that's when I ended up hitting the fence."
That explanation was enough for the trooper to handcuff Capers and put her in the back of a patrol car. But that didn't' stop her from talking.
According to the report, while they were getting a statement from the father, Capers kept telling the man, "I hope you die."
State troopers said they also found her three kids all under the age of 3 inside her SUV unbuckled. Capers is charged with attempted murder, leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of child neglect.
