Fire consumes Winter Garden auto parts building

Firefighters extinguish blaze; No injuries reported

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – A fire consumed an auto parts building in Winter Garden, sending a large black flume of smoke into the sky.

The blaze broke out around 1:30 p.m at Budget Auto Parts at 881 9th St. in Winter Garden.

Firefighters from Winter Garden and Ocoee extinguished the blaze after nearly an hour.

All employees were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.

Local 6 news helicopter Sky 6 was on scene as smoke billowed out of the roof of the business and as the fire spread throughout the building.

Witnesses told Local 6 that they heard three loud "booms" before the fire ignited.

Firefighters told Local 6 they believe the fire started when sparks from a cutting tool mixed with gasoline, igniting the fire. The building is considered a total loss and the fire is still under investigation, according to fire officials.
