DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A fire broke out Monday morning at a Daytona Beach hotel, causing $65,000 in damage.

The blaze was reported around 8:30 a.m. at the Regency Inn in the 600 block of North Ridgewood Avenue.

According to Daytona Beach fire officials, firefighters called to the hotel saw heavy black smoke coming from the one-story concrete block building, with several occupants exiting.

Firefighters kept the flames to one room, officials said.

Due to conflicting reports from witnesses and evidence found at the scene, fire officials have asked the state fire marshal to investigate.

No injuries were reported.
