Fire destroys Orlando house

2 escape blaze; no injuries reported

ORLANDO, Fla. – An outdoor heating lamp may have caused a fire that destroyed a house in Orlando.

A man and woman escaped the fire, which broke out around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at 9110 Ogilvie Drive near Turkey Lake Road just west of Interstate 4.

The homeowner says he heard crackling sounds and discovered that a shed near the rear of his home was ablaze.  He tried to extinguish the fire, which spread to the house.

Firefighters put the fire out and removed items from the home in an effort to salvage them.

No one was injured in the fire.

The homeowner says he believes an outdoor heating lamp that was placed in the shed sparked the fire, but the official cause is not known.

An investigation is underway.
