Fire rips through Orlando restaurant

Sharon's Restaurant damaged in blaze

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando restaurant was seriously damaged by fire early Monday morning.

Sharon's Restaurant, located in a strip mall on South Orange Avenue, suffered the majority of the damage caused by the blaze.  Three other business sustained smoke damage.

Shortly after the fire broke out, smoke could be seen billowing from the roof of the restaurant, which has been in business for 23 years.

Firefighters extinguished the blazes in about 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire, which officials said likely started in the attic, is under investigation.  Preliminary reports indicate an electrical issue is to blame, according to the family that owns the restaurant.

The owner, who did not want to be identified, said she closed the establishment for the day Sunday afternoon.

She told Local 6 that she was not only upset about her business but also her 15 employees, many of whom are single mothers.

The family plans to reopen.

No one was injured in the fire.
