Firefighters rescue cat from burning home in Ocala

2 dogs died in the fire, Fire Rescue says

OCALA, Fla. - Two dogs died and one cat was rescued from a burning Marion County home late Wednesday night, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.

Fire Rescue officials said a fire ignited at a home on 16 Chesnut Run in Ocala at around 10 p.m. Wednesday. The fire was contained to one room within 20 minutes, officials said.

Two dogs, a Cocker Spaniel and a German Shepherd, died in the fire. The cat was discovered during the firefighters' secondary search and resuscitated.

No people were injured.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the incident.
