BUNNELL, Fla. – A corrections deputy with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office ran a red light and crashed into a car, sending her and the other driver to a hospital, officials said.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of State Road 100 and U.S. 1 in Bunnell.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Deputy Sandy Gay was driving her patrol car after dropping off a prisoner when she ran the light and crashed into a car being driven by Paul Salvatore, who was headed to work.
Salvatore was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Gay did not have her emergency lights on and was headed to the Flagler County Jail, which is located about 2 miles from the crash site, officials said.
Gay, an 18-year veteran, is now under investigation and received a traffic ticket.
"I've got a wrecked car and an injured deputy and on another side I've got a wrecked car and an injured citizen, and uh, it's embarrassing," said Flagler County undersheriff Rick Staly.
According to the sheriff's office, the agency does not have dashboard cameras in their patrol cars so it was not caught on tape.
The crash marks the second time a Flagler deputy has been involved in an accident in weeks. In the last incident on February 13, a driver died after Deputy Chris Crego hit him while responding to a call, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers. That crash is still under investigation.
