Crane suffers broken leg, deputies say

BUNNELL, Fla. – A Flagler County deputy rescued a sandhill crane on Friday morning that suffered a broken leg after being hit by a car.

The deputy found the juvenile sandhill crane laying in the grass alongside the roadway on Grand Reserve Drive in Bunnell Friday morning, according to a Flagler County Sheriff's Office release.

The bird was taken to the East Coast Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Port Orange, where its injures could be attended to and the bird nursed back to health.
