Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies arrest reckless driver

16-year-old driver apprehended

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – According to a news release, a little before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies tried to stop a reckless driver in the area of Pine Hurst Lane in Palm Coast after it almost hit two unmarked sheriff's vehicles. 

As deputies tried to stop the car the driver sped up and did not stop for several traffic control devices. As the deputies chased the car, identified as a newer black Toyota Camry, it continued onto Belle Terre Parkway.

The driver then entered the intersection of Royal Palms and Belle Terre and hit another car and continued on. The driver that was struck was taken to Florida Hospital Flagler to be treated for her injuries. 

The car was pursued through portions of the "R" and "W" sections of Palm Coast before the chase was called off. 

According to the release, thanks to the assistance of the Flagler County FireFlight the car was located in the area of Wellwood Lane and Wellhaven Lane. Deputies arrived on the scene and determined that the vehicle was abandoned after a tip from the helicopter. 

Deputies set up a perimeter of the area and located the driver. He was arrested with the use of a sheriff's K-9. 

The 16-year-old driver was charged with felony aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude.

The release explained that he was later booked into the Flagler County Jail for processing and was ultimately turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
