Floor collapse injures 5 at Orlando hotel

3 workers taken to area hospitals

ORLANDO, Fla. – Five workers were injured early Tuesday at an Orlando hotel that is under construction in the tourist district of the city, according to police.

The industrial accident was reported around 3:30 a.m. at the Hyatt hotel on International Drive.

According to police, officers were called to 5374 International Drive and found several injured workers. First responders removed the workers from the interior of the building and provided treatment to the injured workers.

Three of the five victims were taken to area hospitals. None of the injuries was life-threatening. 

Police said workers were pouring concrete on the fifth floor of the building when the floor collapsed. The workers fell about 8 to 12 feet and were injured, police said.

OSHA and Code Enforcement were notified, and an investigation is ongoing.
