TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Authorities say more than 30 people were injured when the floor collapsed during a party at a Tallahassee apartment building.
Police spokeswoman Anitra Highland tells the Tallahassee Democrat that no one died when the floor collapsed just after 1:20 a.m. Sunday. She described most of the injuries as "broken bones and sprains."
The floor's collapse dropped party goers from the second floor to the first floor in the Seminole Grand Apartments' clubhouse.
A Florida A&M University student at the party says the collapse was "like riding a roller coaster with no seat belts."
Highland says a dozen people were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Democrat reports that the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Leon County EMS and the Tallahassee police and fire departments responded to the scene.
