Florida Gov. Rick Scott pledges $130 million to Everglades
Funding to be used for river restoration, improved water flow
Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Wednesday pledged $130 million to Everglades restoration in the upcoming budget.
Scott announced the Everglades funding for the 2014 budget at the first meeting of the year for the Florida Cabinet in Kissimmee.
Scott said the money will be used to help restore the Kissimmee River north of the Everglades and also help reconstruct a section of the Tamiami Trail so it allows water to flow south into the Everglades.
Scott and the Cabinet members also handed out awards to business leaders and educators.
The members of the Florida Cabinet are Attorney General Pam Bondi, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater and Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam.
