Florida could soon crack down on drivers who take off from the scene of crashes.
Attorney General Pam Bondi joined lawmakers Tuesday to unveil a new bill to fight what they say is an epidemic.
The bill would create a mandatory four-year minimum prison sentence for anyone who leaves the scene of a deadly crash. It also requires hit-and-run drivers lose their license for three years.
The bill has already unanimously passed two senate committees.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, three people were killed every week by a hit-and-run driver in 2012.
