A man has been charged with attempted second-degree murder after police say he threw hot grits on another man, causing third-degree burns.
Edward Holley, 59, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon during a verbal dispute with another man at a home on King Cole Boulevard.
Police said during the argument Holley told the victim "I've got something for you," and then went into the house, took "scalding hot greasy grits" in a pan and threw it on the victim.
The victim suffered second- and third-degree burns on 30 percent of his body, according to police.
Holley told police when they arrived that it was the victim's fault the fight occurred and that he should have killed him and next time he will.
Holley then told police that if "you are going to arrest me then just arrest me now, cause next time I am going to kill him," according to the report.
Witnesses told police that Holley picks fights with the victim.
Holley was arrested and taken to Orange County jail.
