JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A Duval County School Board member proposed the idea of Florida's controversial Stand Your Ground policy extending to schools, according to a WTSP-TV report.

School Board member Jason Fischer believes student victims should be allowed to fight back without the fear of being punished for protecting their right of self defense. Fischer said his proposal has nothing to do with firearms or weapons, just reasonable self defense, according to WTSP-TV.

His proposal is not widely accepted. Duval Superintendent Nikolai Vitti says it may send the wrong message that violence is acceptable, WTSP TV reports.
