Resolutions are not a binding university policy, but rather a "opinion or will of the Senate."

Headdresses usually worn at Florida State games are not those of the Seminole tribe. The bright feathered headdresses were worn by the Plains region tribes, like the Sioux. The Seminole tribe's headdresses are more of a turban style.

The resolution hopes to ensure that all images used to depict the tribe are authentic in an effort to continue a strong relationship with the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
