Florida wildlife officials introduce Fish Orlando! app
British businessman who vacations in Sunshine State creates application
A new smartphone application allows tourists and residents in Central Florida to see maps of major lakes in the area while catching up on some fishing tips.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on Thursday announced the app, called Fish Orlando! Users can also read specific fishing rules and identify local sport fish.
A statement from FWC says it developed the Fish Orlando! Program in 1998 to expand the area's urban fisheries program by providing quality-size fish, unique fishing experiences at various lakes and ponds and habitat enhancement.
Some of the more popular fishing lakes in the area are known as the "FAB Five." Four urban ponds are also included in the program.
FWC says the app was created by a British businessman who vacations in Florida.
