Blackberry 10 to be released in early 2013

Company says new smartphone is being tested

ORLANDO, Fla. - Tech company Research In Motion says it's testing the new Blackberry 10.

The company says it'll be released after the holiday shopping season, sometime in the first three months of 2013.

The Blackberry 10 has a redesigned touch screen, new Internet browsing abilities, and a bigger variety of apps.

Experts say the phone is critical to the survival of Research In Motion. That's because the company has struggled to keep customers who have abandoned Blackberry for Androids and iPhones.
