Deputies arrest 1 person after double shooting

SHARPES, Fla. – Brevard County deputies arrested a man after two people were shot in a Sharpes neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

Joshua Wheelin, 19, of Cocoa was charged with armed robbery and two counts of aggravated battery after deputies say he shot Paul McComas, 20, and Jason Miningham, 18.

Deputies said they were called out to the 6900 block of Ash Drive in reference to shots fired.

When they arrived, they found McComas and Miningham.

Miningham was airlifted and admitted to a nearby hospital.

McComas was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.

Deputies said they found a backpack of the suspect's, and later found Wheelin.

Wheelin was transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held without bond.

Deputies are investigating why the shooting happened.
