Palm Bay drivers detour congestion delayed

Project to shut part of Palm Bay Road for 11 weeks

BREVARD, Fla. – Palm Bay drivers may be in for "potential gridlock at peak traffic hours," according to town officials.

John Denninghoff, Brevard County's public works director, wants South Brevard drivers to be aware of the implications of the temporary closing of a half-mile stretch of Palm Bay Road, just east of Minton Road, which will be shut down for about 11 weeks from April 7 until June 11.

Crews will replace a collapsed 7½-foot-diameter metal stormwater drain pipe that runs under Palm Bay Road in that area. The project is estimated to cost $750,000.
