School vandals cause $5,000 in damage

Palm Bay police say school courtyard, buses spray-painted

PALM BAY, Fla. – Palm Bay police are searching for the vandals who spray-painted graffiti on school property in Brevard County.

According to Florida Today, vandals spray-painted walls at Bayside High School in Palm Bay as well as school buses parked in a lot behind Westside Elementary. The damage was estimated at more than $5,000.

"It happened sometime over the weekend, " said Yvonne Martinez, spokeswoman for the Palm Bay Police Department.

Police discovered several markings, which included a version of the anarchist symbol of an "A" enclosed in a circle at both vandalized locations.

The Brevard County School District is investigating the incident.

Students in Brevard County returned for the 2012-2013 school year on Aug. 8.
