Central Fla. awaits for Powerball jackpot drawing

Wednesday's jackpot could top $245 million

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Floridians will pack convenience stores throughout the day, hoping to walk away with the Powerball ticket that nets them millions.

Wednesday's Powerball jackpot stands at $245 million. However, the number will almost certainly creep toward $300 million by the drawing on Wednesday night.

If only one matching ticket is sold, the lucky winner can opt for a lump sum of $136.3 million dollars, according to lottery officials.

The Wednesday night jackpot is the largest since August's $448 million dollar prize. Three tickets matched all five numbers and the Powerball in August.

A couple in Minnesota was first to claim the winning ticket, followed by a group of 16 co-workers in New Jersey now known as "Ocean's 16."

The third winning ticket was also sold in New Jersey to man a who went to the same store each day to buy a newspaper and a lottery ticket.

Wednesday's drawing will air live on Local 6 at 10:59 p.m., immediately followed by the Local 6 News at 11.
