Facebook adds restaurant reservations

Social networking site partners with Open Table

SAN FRANCISCO – Facebook announced it will partner with a popular online restaurant reservation service to allow users to book a table through a restaurant's fan page.

The social networking site says users will be able to reserve a table through the Facebook mobile app. Facebook will integrate Open Table's software into its mobile app so users can choose a restaurant and a reservation time with a few clicks.

The reservation option will be available for 20,000 restaurants, according to Facebook.

The web site will also help users with Apple devices find TV shows and movies by integrating TV listing information. The listings will be found on fan pages for individual TV shows and movies.

Facebook hopes to have the new features available to users by the end of the week.
