Florida car dealer refunds customer in pennies

State orders dealer to give woman $700 for repair bill

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A car dealership in north Florida was forced to give a customer a refund, but it is how that refund was issued that is grabbing headlines.

The refund was issued almost entirely in pennies.

When international student Irena Mujakovic bought a 2003 Saab from Holiday Motors in Jacksonville, she did not expect to have too many problems.

However, after she bought the car, it developed transmission problems. After paying a total of $700 in repairs, she filed a complaint with the DMV.  The state agency then told the dealer to give her a refund.

When Mujakovic went to pick up the money, she was given two bags filled with pennies and loose dollar bills.

The dealer says he was instructed to refund the bill and as far as he is concerned he did just that.
